We Americans have MUCH to be thankful for….no doubt. But, in recent years, we seemingly have a shade less to be thankful for. It seems that so much of what we have been thankful for, and fought to accomplish, in hundreds of years gone by, is a bit eroded…….. literally, in front of our eyes. While our freedom, today, is intact… much of what our freedom consists, is and continues to be, in jeopardy.
I will not yield to the temptation to explore all of the “whys and wherefores,” but rather, I will yield to giving strong support of our US Constitution, and a “big-thank-you” to our honorable Citizens, our Dedicated and Committed Military, and their families; who have sacrificed so much of their own lives, their comfort, and their individual welfare… for the greater good of our Citizens and Country.
Join me, as I yield to a “moment of pause,” to Thank God for His continued Love and Protection. Romans 8:28 tells us…. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
No matter what our current, or future circumstances, we can know that all things will work out for our individual best. I am not suggesting that all things will be good, as even bad things can, and will happen, but even that will work out for our ultimate best. God “allows us” and, our Country, to make mistakes, but promises us to be with us in the storms that might lie ahead. Isaiah 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
In a world where we seem to be hell-bent on destroying ourselves from within, where betrayal is commonplace, our families units are degenerating, and satan is gaining a foot-hold…. it is encouraging to know that God never leaves, or forsakes us. Too often, we forsake God, but He never forsakes us. Deuteronomy 31:6 – “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Let us pause and reflect, that in celebrating “Thanks-giving,” we are saying “thanks” and “giving” of ourselves to our fellow Americans.
Psalm 100 – Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Happy Thanksgiving, and … Blessings…cjlb….11/27/14
