I have the greatest respect for SALESMEN. It’s true, today’s salesmen are “more educated” then yesterdays, particularly in terms of “product knowledge.” They “learn younger” and quicker. Don’t get me wrong, now…. I’m not advocating anything in terms of less education ….the contrary… I always will favor …more education; regardless
What I am… saying, though, is that if there is such an issue where less education is potentially acceptable… then the salesman is going to be the area where one is going to still be able to excel the most. The reason being is that a salesman is the one profession that one can excel by pure instinct… even with less education.
For the most part… all that is necessary is that the salesman… must know his product… believe in his product…then, he can sell his product. The reason this subject is of much import, today… is because of the weak economy, higher cost of education, and higher cost of living. Consequently, there is going to be more young people in the job market… sooner, and, I might add… with less education.
A good salesman can sell his product… regardless, because “he a born salesman.” Almost all successful salesmen are “born salesmen.” A born salesman can sell anything… but first he must sell himself.
The Bible says, in Proverbs 11:30… “He who wins souls is wise.” This is very critical in selling. If the salesman has not won the soul, then trying to sell the product or service is, generally, a waste of time. By winning the soul, you’ve also won the purchaser’s trust, confidence, and friendship; and therefore… his business.
