“…A born salesman can sell anything; but first he must sell himself….”

20131022_063312I have the greatest respect for SALESMEN.  It’s true, today’s salesmen are “more educated” then yesterday’s, particularly in terms of “product knowledge.”  Don’t get me wrong, now, I’m not advocating anything in terms of less educated….the contrary; I always will favor more education.   What I am saying, though, is that if there is such an issue where less education is acceptable, then the salesman is going to be the area where one is going to excel the most.  The reason being is that a salesman is the one profession that one can excel by pure instinct.  All that is necessary is that he knows his product, and believes in his product…then he can sell his product.  The reason this subject is of import, today, is that because of the economy, cost of education, and cost of living; there is going to be more young people in the job market sooner, and with less education.  A good salesman can sell his products regardless, because “he a born salesman.”  Almost all successful salesmen are “born salesmen.”  A born salesman can sell anything; but first he must sell himself.  The Bible says, “He who wins souls is wise” Proverbs 11:30  This is very critical in selling.  If the salesman has not won the soul, then trying to sell the product or service is, generally, a waste of time.  When winning the soul, you’ve also won the purchaser’s trust, confidence, and friendship; and therefore his business. …. cjlb…11/7/13
