“…All too often… the grass starts getting greener on the other side… you know… the forbidden side.  The tree in the middle of the Garden….”

TOO IMPORTANT?  It gets to all of us… at one time or another.  We come to the thinking… that we’re so important that we get a tad too big for our pants.   Yeah… it’s bound to happen.

Starting out… Things run smooth… life is good; the money pours in; the kids are doing well in school and socially… and the wife has socially arrived as well. Then Bam-O…everything unravels; like a Ponzi-scheme.

I’m not suggesting evil-doing…although, honestly… that’s very often the case.  All too often… the grass starts getting greener on the other side… you know… the forbidden side.  The tree in the middle of the Garden.   It’s our ‘stinkin-thinkin’ that gets us into trouble….every time.  We start thinking that we are the one who invented the wheel… that ‘things just don’t happen without us’… we’re ABOVE the law; the rules; and proper decorum.  We’re #1.  And… we got there the hard way.  We walked six miles to school every day in the snow.  We did ‘it’ all by ourselves.  We’re ‘self-made.’  Just ask us.

We soon forget that God ‘has a plan for us.’  We are told in Jeremiah 29:11 – I know the plans I have for you,” announces the Lord. “I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you. I will give you hope for the years to come.

Soon… we lose focus on how we got to the top.  When we become blind to the ways of the Lord…and we stumble… usually on our PRIDE.   God will make every attempt to bring us back to … His PLAN.

We are reminded in2 Chronicles 16:12In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa developed a disease in his feet, and his disease became increasingly severe. Yet even in his disease he didn’t seek the LORD but only the physicians.

God may bless us in an unusual way to gain our attention.  Maybe a ‘near fatal automobile wreck.’  Or, the loss of an exceptionally good job.   And if you’re like me… an overly self-sufficient person, the Lord may use some other method to get our focus back on Him.  No matter the method He uses, it will express His love for us.

God has a way of getting our attention….Blessings…cjlb…9/21/2017
