Have you ever thought just “how powerful you really are?” I know, for me, the thought has occurred at times; but I quickly dismissed it as being without foundation. We, actually, even the weakest of us….have P-O-W-E-R.
Just as a reminder…remember Hitler. A weakling, a braggart, ill-health, small in stature…. But an O-R-A-T-O-R. He knew how to PURSUADE; therefore…he had POWER, but miss-used…fully satanic. Another weakling….a baby. What? A “crying-baby,” has plenty of POWER. Not just powerful lungs; but in the middle of the night… a very persuasive call of POWER. Then there is the “pint-sized” professor; the one who holds POWER of your passing; or the “5’2” eyes of blue,” who holds POWER over the entire household. And the brazen drunk, who comes home in the middle of the night… wanting to beat-up anything in his way; and too often does.
And the too POWERFULL are the governmental officials who “hold you hostage,” to everything you own… and for some…the Pope, a POWERFUL religious figure. Then there is the Queen of England… with gracious little POWER, but does process “social-power.” We have seen the “wimpy” little scoundrel, who leads “nations into war,” and the “little farm boy” named David, who cut off the head of Goliath. There’s Ford, Gates, Carnegie, and Morgan…. All “powerful-giants” of industry, who “un-leashed” their POWER (for good) such that it changed the world we live.
But, the “most-powerful-of-all” was an averaged-sized guy, meek, humble, a un-assuming carpenter, who was both the “Son-of-man,” and also the SON-of-GOD…who was, universally, the most POWERFUL of all… yet ALLOWED Himself, to be CRUCIFIED on the Cross of Calvary; so that ALL of man-kind, might have “life-ever-lasting.” Talk about POWER… in Matthew 26:52-54 – Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword. “Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels? How then will the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?”
We should not forget what is said in Matthew 20:26-28 – “It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” So… POWER comes from the “most un-expected” of places, and people.
We can rest in comfort, though, because it is also said in Deuteronomy 28:1-2 – “Now it shall be, if you diligently obey the LORD your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I command you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. 2“All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you obey the LORD your God. …Blessings…cjlb…3/17/15.
