“…Are we a friend, or are we….TOO FRIENDLY…”

Confess, repent, convert... and be Faithful.

Confess, repent, convert… and be Faithful.

Where do we “really” stand with God, or secondarily… with anyone, for that matter?  Are we “walking the talk?”  Or, are we just talking the walk?  Some people call this “sliding.”  I call it failing to take our commitment to God seriously.  We say, and think, that we believe in God; yet take God’s name in vain.  We say, and think, that we attend Church regularly; yet we rarely “observe the Sabbath.”   We say, and think, that we “love our neighbor,” yet when was the last time we cared for the elderly, strengthened the weak, fed the hungry, and gave shelter to the homeless?  We say our prayers, yet, do we really trust in God’s answer?   We think we have a clean mind, yet how often do we covet our neighbor’s goods?  We think we support the Church, yet how often, and much, do we really give?  We think that we don’t worship idols, yet how often do we put golf, fishing, and “things of the flesh” ahead of God?  When we do pray, how often do we ask for…rather that asking how?  Are we genuinely joyful, happy in our family life and job, giving, and loving?  When is the last time we actually “did something for someone” and not expecting to get something in return?  Do we smile at our neighbor, or just give a grim (woe is me) look?  Can we get through the day without telling a lie (even a white lie)?  If we are in good health, have healthy children and spouse, have a house, a place at the beach, a good job, and extra money in the bank… yet we take full credit for all of our good fortune; giving God none?  Do we dress appropriately, or seductively; talk with grace and respect, or talk in a haughty manner and speak in hateful terms?  Are we a friend, or are we TOO FRIENDLY?  Do we worship God, or do we worship “the sins of the flesh?  We can fool those around us, we can even fool ourselves (for a time), but we cannot fool The Lord God.   I was 50 years old before I ever owned a Bible.  I was 60 years old before I ever told Jesus that I loved Him.  I was 72 years old before I ever “tried,” to spread the Gospel.  I’ve done all the things that I speak about (above), and therefore, don’t sit in judgment of anyone.  I KNOW that I’ve fallen short of God’s expectation and His plan for me.   For too many years….I used God as a front, instead of “putting Him in Front.  If you are anything like me, then PLEASE, join me, in confessing our sins, converting evil to good, giving instead of taking, loving instead of hating, helping instead of hurting, spreading the Word of God, instead of spreading falsehoods, professing our Faith in Our Lord Jesus, instead of giving satan a food-hold in our lives.  Let us, then, tell Jesus that we Love Him, observe the Sabbath, believe that He is Our Savior, and that He died on the Cross for all our sins.  Blessings …cjlb…6/23/14
