Leaders are not just those sitting in the Boardroom’s of Corporate America; they could be the one who is sitting across the lunch-room table from you, or sharing your office cubical, or the guy you car pool with. These types of leaders are selected by their peers; the one’s “they chose” to look up to, to follow their lead, to seek their advice, or plan strategy with. They’re the type of leader who stands out amongst their equals; not always liked, but always respected; not paid as Corporate Leaders, yet are still considered powerful by their peers….
How do your peers view you? Are you a leader amongst your peers? Some of us are “born leaders.” Some others…well…not so. To be a “peer leader,” really, is a coveted position. The problem is, however, that “most peer leaders” don’t even realize they are leaders, or even leadership material. They are just the type of person that “has his head screwed on …just right.” He’s at the right spot… at the right time… ready, with the right information. Everything just comes “natural” with him (or her).
So… how does one come about to be a “peer leader.” Well, like I said earlier… they likely don’t even realize what’s going on. Here’s what they do: They think about their job 24/7, they are always thinking of a way to do “something better.” They’re also… very CONFIDENT. And, for sure, they’re not TIMID. They don’t carry their feelings on their sleeve; they’re consistent, dependable, punctual, and HONEST. They have all the “makings” of a great future. They’re willing to “go beyond the call of duty.”
And, more importantly…. They truly CARE. They care about the BUSINESS, they care about their PEERS, and they care about the CUSTOMERS. They also LOVE what they’re doing. They’re HAPPY. And… very likely… they’ve DEDICATED their life to GOD. They… very likely…place GOD ahead of everything else; and through that “special relationship,” they are able to “keep everything in perspective.” They are able to keep “all the balls in the air.” What we MUST remember, here, is that there is “something to learn” from this entire scenario…. FOLLOW THE LEADER!
Before we go any further…. Listen up. I chose the following scriptures… very carefully. Their purpose is to give biblical support to what this posting is all about… helping your fellow-man, and living by the Golden Rule. There is a “direct correlation” between everything we do in our lives… and the Bible. These scriptures are not to be taken lightly. Matthew 6:33 – But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:31-33 – Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:19-21 – “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Galatians 2:20 – I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
There are “no-free-lunches” in life. Ultimately… we have to work “very hard” for what we want out of life. The question is: What do you want? And, what are you doing to get it? ….Blessings…cjlb…5/24/15.
