“…As a kid…it was said… that I was ‘too big for my britches.” What the heck!

".... I can do ANYTHING...!Thinking small vs. thinking BIG: Around my house…we’re big-time-thinkers.

Why waste time thinking small, when BIGGER is better. Here are a few examples: I’m thinking about selling some property, in a high demand area, with high traffic count. If I sell, I’ll ask twice what its worth. That’s thinking BIG.

I’m thinking of purchasing some property for about 1/3 of its value. That’s thinking BIG in reverse. My bride has always said, “If you don’t ask… you don’t get.” So, why bother to ask small when BIG is better?

Some 40 years ago, my then Boss called me in for a raise. I remember him telling me a specific figure, when rounded up, came to another thousand per year; so I asked if it was OK to round UPsure, he said.

I like BIGGER bananas; the BIGGER sized cereal box; EXPANDABLE feature in slacks; HEAVIER starch in my shirts; WIDER fitting shoes; the BIGGEST automobile; the BIGGEST TV screen. I buy socks, tee-shirts, and underwear, by the DOZEN; and 36 rolls of paper towels and toilet paper at a time.  As a kid, it was even said that I was “too big for my britches.”  I could go on, but you get the point.

While the Bible does not address this subject in a BIG way; it does give merit to the “BIG idea” concept… in 1 Samuel 17:34-36, and 37 – Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” Even though fighting Goliath was taking on a BIG challenge, David had reason to feel that he had the skill and temperament to slay the GIANT. His rewards were also IMMENSE; as his nation would gain MUCH, and the glory of God would be MANIFESTED.

There is a fine balance of skill, talent and need… verses RISK…which must be determined before taking on the BIG deals in life. I think that God intended for us to think BIG.

Given the idea of praying 40 days, fasting 40 days, walking in the desert 40 years; forgiving 7×70, separating the Red Sea, and raising Lazarus. And also… considering today’s subject… it has taken me about twice the number of words, as normal, to make my point.

BIGGER is BETTER. …Blessings… cjlb …10/22/16
