“…Attaining a successful leadership role, does not mean that your ‘so-called’ followers are REALLY FOLLOWING you….”

Image result for Caricature of man following the leaderAll followers have Leaders, but not all Leaders have followers. The best General in the world can’t lead his troops into battle if they don’t follow. If we fail to listen, then we fail to follow. We have a responsibility to LISTEN, and to RESPOND in a positive way.

For most of us, as we navigate our “career path,” it is our wish that we move up the ladder to a “real leadership role.” For most, this is a long and difficult path; one that comes, only, by very hard work, dedication, commitment, knowledge, and integrity.   But…attaining a successful leadership role, does not mean that your “so-called” followers are REALLY FOLLOWING you. Some, who have that “appointed role” of FOLLOWER, simply REFUSE to follow. Some are, just plain trouble makers. Those trouble makers don’t want to follow anyone…. It wouldn’t make any difference who the Leader might be. These “types” have to be dealt with in an acceptable corporate manner. Then you have the other “so-called follower” who is “not against” being a follower, but is not inclined to follow, because he/she simply doesn’t understand their role as a FOLLOWER; or does not understand the “purpose of the plan,” and his corresponding assignment. This type of FOLLOWER can be HELPED; so that he can become “better qualified” to fulfill his role in the Plan-of-Action.

A good Leader will be able to determine who is “following” and who is not, and the reason WHY. He then, can began the process of “refining” his leadership process; such that “all” members of the “follow-ship” are qualified, or if need be….DISQUALIFIED. It is the role of the Leader, and his support-staff to “weed-out” the trouble makers, and then dedicate their time to those who share the “overall MISSION, or Plan-of-ACTION (POA).

As “followers” we will be HELD RESPONSIBLE to pay attention, to cooperate, to be prepared, and to fulfill our own assigned roles. If we take a “lack-luster” or LUKE-WARM approach, then eventually, we will FAIL.

We are told in Revelation 3:15-17 – ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. ‘So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.  ‘Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.

So it is in the BUSINESS WORLD… if you are “Luke-warm” then, CORPORATE LEADERSHIP will “spit you out of their mouths.” There are “no free lunches,” rather we are pursuing career opportunity; building personal relationships; developing social connections; or developing a stronger relationship with God. Be AWARE. …..Blessings…cjlb…6/2/15.
