SIGHT vs. VISION: Sight is what most of us take for granted…the ability to see things, yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Vision, on the other hand goes beyond what we actually see, but rather, transfigures it into “a dream realized,” or the “fulfilled desire,” or what most would think as accomplishing “an impossible” goal.
Some might even have what is called ‘foresight.’ That, being, able to see BEYOND what is readily possible. Again, it might be known, or viewed, as ‘looking through the trees.’ Which is a popular term within the real estate community. It is when a developer can look at a parcel of land… and visualize a shopping center, or a residential community.
Then there are those who walk to a different drummer, who visualize God through darkness, or through the actions of others, if not our own. Vision may also allow us to see through invisible elements, such as, love, respect, humility, tolerance, and grace… and yes…even hate, anger, and remorse.
Visionary leadership is considered a necessary trait for any CEO, whose job is …keeping an organization “on track” in pursuit of its goal, which the leader keeps in mind… and inspires others with that goal… and influences them toward achieving it. This would be TRUE, both in the world of business, and also the ‘spiritual world.’
Good Leaders may not need “sight” to be successful Leaders… but they will need plenty of VISION. From a more worldly view…you have the likes of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, and Johnny-come-lately… Mark Zuckerberg, and don’t forget Henry Ford, Ben Franklin, and Alexander Graham Bell…just to name a few VISIONARIES.
A bit closer to home…at least, to me… is renowned VISIONARY… Carl Fisher, and my own maternal Grandfather, Walter Albert Kohlhepp, as his Vice-President and General Manager… developed the Gold Coast of Miami Beach Florida… in the Twenties.
From a spiritual perspective… we have VISIONARIES, such as… Saint Pope John-Paul, had a measureable degree of VISION, as did the Reverend Billy Graham, and Saint Mother Theresa… and, many others, which God has blessed with certain ‘visionary’ capabilities. All of us can be very capable ‘visionaries’…. and to be so… is just a prayer away from reality.
And, of course…whose VISION do we want to partake? The Choice: The Great VISIONARY, Himself… Jesus Christ. Or the serpent… whom we all can ‘see through’ when we opt to…mr. satan, himself.
Dear Lord God, Jesus Christ, help me… to be an instrument of Your PEACE, and a conduit of Your Love.
…Blessings …cjlb…. 7/7/2017
