“… Being available… is a choice…”

Ability vs Avail-ABILITY:

Let’s start with the ‘bottom line.’  God determines our ‘ability,’ and we, by exercising our God-given gift… of FREE-WILL… decide our availability.

So, let’s explore this for a moment.  If we lack ability… then being available is incidental…. It doesn’t count.  If we can’t fly an airplane… there’s no use getting into the cockpit.  If we can’t ride a horse… there’s no sense in getting up in the saddle.  If we can’t lift more than 50 pounds… then forget about being a competitive weight lifter.  We NEED to develop our skill-sets.  We need to KNOW our business.

God will provide all the necessary ingredients to develop our ability.  We are not in this process… alone.

How does one develop their ability? We might start with deciding what our ‘strong suits’ are.  And, whatever that is… then practice it…. Develop it, study it… become an expert at ‘it.’  Fall in LOVE with ‘it.’  Some of us are adapt to certain skills, like having artistic skills… yet, we don’t necessarily like it.  We can become very proficient at art; but if we’re ‘not in love’ with art… we’ll never excel, such so, that we might become an award winning artist… one who actually ‘makes a good living at art.’

God might provide us with ‘certain specific instincts’ in football skills… but it is up to the individual to further develop their skills by constant training, constant practice, commitment and, we must ‘fall in love’ with all aspects of football.  None of this will work, however, if we’re not available.  Being available is the ultimate commitment.   It is the ultimate ingredient.  It’s not just being there in the physical sense.  Showing up for football practice is easy enough.  Participating is easy enough.  But being there mentally… completely focused; being completely committed; being fully aware… are all absolute requirements.  Any missing ingredient will cause one to fall short of full-filling the availability requirement.

Being available is a CHOICE.  Rather it be in our social life… work environment; family life… or, our spiritual life.

Such as it is with God.

Accepting Jesus, as our Lord and Savior is also a choice.  It’s choosing good over evil… choosing heaven over hell… choosing Jesus over satan.  It’s being AVAILABLE.  When Jesus knocks on our door, and we’re asleep… out of town… otherwise, un-available… then, we will be left at the altar.

John 14:26 – But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you (providing us with ability) all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1 Peter 3:15 – But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always (act of being available) to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

Join me… as together, we seek to serve the Lord…by always being available.  cjlb… 7/11/2019
