NOPE…it’s not about our fortune, not about our fame, not about our celebrity, not about our IQ, not about our good looks (ugh), not about our degrees and educational accomplishments, not about our standing in society, not about what we did for the arts, not about rank, not about our career accomplishments, not about our assets… and no… It is not even about titles… and such.
When we arrive at the pearly gates… we will find … it is all about: Who did we feed, who did we clothe, who did we educate, who did we mentor, who did we shelter, who did we guide, who did we influence in a positive way, who did we visit in prison… and who did we ‘share the Gospel’ with. It’s going to be ALL about what we did for our fellow man; did we ‘love our neighbor,’ did we live by the Golden Rule, and did we live according to God’s Commandments?
Scripture tells us that there is ‘nothing’ we can do to earn our way to Heaven. This was given to us through the ‘love and the blood’ of Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-10 tells us that… For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
No… people are not saved by being good guys… or by their going all about doing good deeds (good works). Rather… people are saved ‘so that’ they can do good deeds. It is well that we know the difference. By performing… “Good works” we are showing others our appreciation to God for saving us… by openly looking for ways to glorify Him …and it’s by this process that we lay up rewards in heaven.
The Apostle John tells us in Revelation 22:12-14 – “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Blessed are those who do His Commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
… Many Blessings as together, we… seek a Legacy, according to God’s will… cjlb…10/10/20
