ASCENSION: This is not a term that is often used in the secular world; but one that I felt appropriate to use in terms…. of career advancement. As career builders, we all want to ascend to the throne, or CEO, or President, or Division Chief, etc. That’s the ultimate position of one’s career in the corporate world. Some, even, think of the United States Presidency in that particular light. Seemingly, for some number of years, now, the Office is occupied by DEFAULT….the least of the EVILS. So much for that….
I probably would have never… ascended to the “seat of power,” in the mega-corporate community on my own merits, so, starting my own business; assured me of ascension to the position of… “Boss-hood.” Which BTW, doesn’t say much for the Young President’s Association.
In the Corporate Community – CEO is the most coveted, yet vulnerable, position to have; with “one vote and you’re out”… threat…always lurking in the background…ask Carly Fiorina, former CEO of Hewitt-Packard, or wannabe Google CEO Ross Levinsohn …booted for being too technical… in favor of the multi-talented, and charismatic, Marisa Meyer. Who, BTW, is scheduled to receive a whopping $137 million for “failing on the job,” resulting from the Yahoo sellout to Verizon.
The most important CEO, the Alpha & Omega, the Lord of Lords…is Jesus Christ, and the Holy Trinity. John 14:12 – “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Hebrews 13:17 – Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.”
In the Christian world, we recognize that The Lord Christ entered upon His work as a royal priest upon the throne, no longer needing to offer atoning sacrifice to God (Hebrews 7:26-27; Hebrews 8:1; Hebrews 10:21); Jesus Ascended into heaven to appear now before God on our behalf, representing our cause before the Father (Hebrews 9:24).
Christ’s bodily Ascension foreshadows our own entrance into Heaven not simply as souls, after our death, but as glorified bodies, after the resurrection of the dead at the Final Judgment. In redeeming mankind, Christ not only offered salvation to our souls but began the restoration of the material world itself to the glory that God intended before Adam’s fall.
Today’s advice: BEWARE… the advantages of Worldly-ACENSION is not, always… worth the price…we sometimes pay.
