VALUE-ADDED: If we don’t do more, each day, than what was originally bargained for; then we’re sitting still…we are stagnant… mentally and physically. Rather we are a leader, or a follower….we should always give more than agreed; even if it’s just a SMILE.
Just this afternoon, I was opening some mail, and there were 3 or 4 rental checks that had come in… and one of them, had a “post-it” attached to the check, AS USUAL…saying “Thank you.” It was not necessary, and not expected… but humbly accepted, and appreciated. I should be sending him a “thank-you” note. This particular tenant utilizes the “value-added” technique…setting himself aside from the other tenants. Thanks Steve.
What, as Leaders, do we do…to ADD VALUE to the project, to the employee, or co-worker, our customer, or even…family…each day? What do we do to “add VALUE to ourselves? Do we “just skim by?” Nothing in…nothing out? Or, do we “value-add?” Do we give more than we get? Do we give more than what was bargained for? Do we leave a little sweetener (*) in the deal for the next guy?
God not only gave us His Son; He “value-added” by giving us “life-ever-lasting.” As told to us in…John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish… but have everlasting life.
(*) In business dealing…always leave a little “blood in the turnip.” We hear of people saying “he squeezed all the blood out of the turnip,” or…all of the profit. I’m saying…leave something in the deal, so that the buyer realizes that he “got a good deal,” and he’ll be more appreciative, and will come back to “deal with you again.” I’m referring to that as a “sweetener”….or “value-added.”
