Seemingly… according to my bride… there is a streak of “talker” in my DNA. Personally, I deny it… but my wife and children… think different. But… what the heck do they know? Now… my older brother… he is a “big talker”…but he didn’t get it from me. I don’t mean to say that “he talks big” … “he just uses a lot of words.” Don’t ever ask him what time it is… he’ll tell you how to make a watch… every time.
Sometimes… I feel… I do the same. I don’t have recollection of my Dear Mother as being a ‘talker’…. and my natural Father (I didn’t know him well) seemed to be a man of very “few words.” So, maybe I’m a victim… of a generational gap.
Ok… so, maybe I talk a lot…. But ‘all MY talk’ is necessary to make my point clear. Just having this website, may be an indication that they are right, and I am wrong. You be the JUDGE.
With all of that said…. If one is a TALKER… then he best have something worthwhile to say. How about YOU…. Are you a TALKER? There may be some indication found in… “How we talk to others.” Do we speak with KINDNESS….With LOVE ….in PEACE? Do we ‘speak down’ to others… or do we ‘lift them’ up? Do people LISTEN when we talk? Do they come back for MORE? That would be a sure indication.
The great Talker of Wisdom, King Solomon… tells us in Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. Then, in Ephesians 4:29 it says – Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Let me suggest… what “real BIG talk” consists. It is when we “talk to God.” It is called PRAYING. In having a “serious talk” with God, will, I assure you, open all kinds of doors, bringing you all kinds of benefits…. And give you all sorts of JOY. He will take you where you’ve never dreamed of going. More than anything else… He offers us “life-ever-lasting,” and His unconditional LOVE. Now…that ‘big talk.’
Also… in Psalm 91:1-16 – He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day.
So, yeah…I must be a talker… especially, in my PRAYER time with Our Lord, Jesus Christ.
