The closest thing to love is hate. Does it take the same amount of passion to love, as it does to hate? I think it takes more PASSION to hate someone that it takes to love them. I believe that both Love and Hate are natural emotions, given to us by God; with LOVE being more natural. Proverbs 8:13 – The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. 1 John 4:8 – Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. Psalm 97:10 – O you who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the lives of his saints; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked. Revelation 2:6 – Yet this you have: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. Proverbs 6:16-19 – There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. It would seem then, biblically speaking, that God is capable of HATE; and since we are made in His image, we are also capable of hate. God “allows hate,” just as he allows automobile accidents, etc. It doesn’t mean that he wants it to happen. Hate is allowed because God gave us “free-will.” The problem is this: If we LOVE God (God is Love), then we cannot HATE another…they just don’t mix. So, it we hate another child of God, then we must not Love God. Hate is manifested be accepting evil (satan); we have turned our will to evil….to the world. 1 John 5:19 – We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. We have all heard that God loves the sinner, but hates the sin. Romans 5:8 – But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
There is Love and Hate in every form of life…work…play…social, and spiritual. It is up to us (our choice – free will), with the Grace of God, to Love our neighbor, and to hate evil; so that we might realize the promise of salvation, that God promised us when He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross “for our sins.” GOD HATES SIN! …..Blessings…cjlb…1/25/14
