To be an “Ed,” is to be defeated, depleted, scared, scarred, annoyed, exaggerated, delayed, debated, unresolved, isolated, exasperated, fooled, un-schooled, misjudged, liberated, emancipated … died, and killed….on and on. But you get the point. To be an “ed,” ….well…it’s complicated. Don’t get me wrong, now, I’m not against Ed’s, Edward’s and Eddie’s…they’re all friends of mine. It’s just that about anything with “ed” on the end is down-hill. Sophisticated might be an exception, unless the person thinks he is, when he’s not…then he’s an “ed.” I know, there’s exceptions to all of this, but I’m not talking about the exceptions, but the rule.
When I think of “ed,” I’m thinking of crucified, deteriorated, confused, died, martyred….I’m thinking of Jesus Christ dying on the Cross. I’m thinking of how fortunate we are that He gave His life so that we might “have life.” I’m also thinking of how He was so severely compromised. While He died for us, we…. too often…. deny him…… by not loving Him….. and not putting Him first.
Luke 10:27 – And he answered, “YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” In failing to Love God, and failing to Love our neighbor as ourselves…we are denying God. John 14:23-24 – Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s, who sent me. WOW…Loving my neighbor as myself…. This may sound like a tall order, but it is what God commands of us in the 2nd Commandment – Mark12:31, and elsewhere.
Just thinking out loud..…Blessings….cjlb.10/26/14.
