Jesus said to his disciples: “Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy from carousing and drunkenness and the anxieties of daily life, and that day catch you by surprise like a trap. For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man.” …. Luke 21:34-36
Now… PLEASE… listen to me… if YOU don’t believe in Jesus Christ; that He died on the cross for our sins; that He arose from the dead… and that He offers us ‘life-every-lasting’… in Heaven, with Him…. Then, likely… there is nothing I can say here, that will influence you … to suddenly… become a believer. If, however, you have an ‘open heart… and a spark of doubt’…. then, this message may have some meaning for you.
If Jesus had a problem convincing His disciples… while He was yet among them… that He was the Son of God… then, there is grave doubt that I could have a particle of influence today. If you, the reader, have a sense that …there is a God, that He gave His only begotten Son, so that ALL of mankind could have life-ever-lasting… then STOP…and, THINK. Does it make sense to think that we all of a sudden… just burst on the scene out of no-where… and if so, for what REASON.
God CREATED mankind, in His own IMAGE… so that we would be, well… like Him. He wanted us for His own. He wanted someone that He could LOVE, and that would LOVE Him in return. Someone that would ADORE Him, and have ETERNAL LIFE with Him. That, my friend… is what is ‘in store for us… in Heaven.’ Eternal happiness…in the presence of Our Lord God, Jesus Christ.
He tells us in Luke (above) that we ‘don’t know the day, or time,’ but… to be vigilant… at ALL times. That does not mean that we can ‘do whatever we want’… to live, think, and function with an abundance of abandon… keeping one eye open… just in case, He suddenly comes to JUDGE us… separating the ‘good from the evil.’ NO… no. We MUST be ready!
We must make every effort to ‘live a life of charity, LOVE, compassion… and, forgiveness. We must live to SERVE, as Jesus did… our fellowman. We must feed the hungry, cloth the poor, visit the sick and imprisoned… and take care of the elderly.
The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 13-9…. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Those who follow the Worldly…that is… the Follywood mentality… will face the reality of it all… when, as Paul tells us in …Philippians 2:7-13 …But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus …every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Many Blessings… as we, each of us… ‘Work out our own salvation… with fear and trembling.’ So, I say in closing… don’t just listen to me… rather: Listen to Jesus… speaking to you… through your heart. ….cjlb… 12/1/2018
