GOLDEN RULE: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. That’s the way most of us recite the “Golden Rule”…. and have, probably since childhood. However, the Bible more precisely tells us in…. Matthew 7:12 – “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
We’ve all heard the saying….”Whatever goes around…comes around.” For some, this might be the “slang” way of stating the Golden Rule. I’ll bet that 95% of the people who use that cliché do it with the negative connotation. Meaning: If you do something bad to someone, it will come back on you just as bad, or worse. Those people are the naysayers, the negative thinkers, and the pessimists. Not me! That is not my way of thinking…
I try to think more positive. To me, “what goes around…comes around,” MEANS that “whenever I do good… it will come back to me, just as good, or better.” Now… that’s the way to think positive.
In one way….we are running around “just looking” for the BAD in someone, so we can trounce on them…put the “bad-mouth” on them. Why? For me…why not run around “looking for the good people do?” And, compliment them on their good deeds. This will, not only, give them encouragement to do MORE good; but will make you feel… all the better… for recognizing them in the midst of their “good deeds.” Maybe even…try to emulate their good works. Just food for thought.
