“…Don’t seek the advice of a MENTOR unless you accept that he … just might KNOW more than you…”

BUSINESS COUNSELING:  I’ve been involved in Business Counseling for many years… and have found…. All too often…people (business owners and leaders) … just don’t like taking advice… thinking ‘they know’ better… even when they pay BIG BUCKS for the advice… only to be told otherwise.

The reason… I think… People don’t like the idea of “dealing with reality.”  If they run a sloppy shop; they don’t like someone pointing out their weaknesses; hence they don’t want to accept DISCIPLINE (corrective measures).  I’m not one to tiptoe-through-the-tulips, so I give them a giant dose of corrective measure.  Simply speaking…. I call ‘it’ like it is.  I’m a realist.

Not everyone pays attention; but… over the years… I’ve also found that when they do pay attention, and follow the corrective measures… they experience a renewed success.

In his infinite wisdom…. King Solomon writes in… PROVERBS 19:20 – Listen to counsel and accept discipline, that you may be wise the rest of your days.

Don’t waste your time, or money… paying a consultant, to help resolve business issues… UNLESS you intend on following their ADVICE.  Don’t seek the advice of a MENTOR unless you accept that he … just might KNOW more than you.  Why bother?

Even, then… when we seek God’s word…and don’t LISTEN, we seek His COUNSEL… yet fail to respond… fail to pay attention, and fail to follow.   Again, in…Proverbs 16:20… “We are advised” … Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord. Then we are told in Philippians 4:9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

How much plainer can it get?  …Blessings…cjlb…11/2/2017
