The POWER-OF-ONE: How does the Power of One affect us…our career, our relationships, our community service, our immediate family… or our love and concern for our fellowman?
For most of us… we have only one chance to make a “good first impression”… on that “certain someone” …or some group. The Power of One is a powerful tool… and one not to be misused, abused, or dismissed as ‘the old way of thinking.’ Often times we are chosen, elected, or appointed, to a position of responsibility and authority. Sometimes, one ‘marries’ into opportunity.
As Leaders… we are in a unique position, in which we engage many people, or maybe, only one person at a time. Sometimes, even, we are nothing to everyone, or everything to just one person. We could, and some… like educators… have the power to influence the entire life of just one person…. Or groups or people.
Our EDUCATORS are in a very unique position of RESPONSIBILITY… that of possibly influencing an ‘entire classroom’ of young students…or an entire grade year. Note, for an example… how some of the university professors yielded “their power” in the recent presidential election process…. Mostly in a ‘negative way,’ I might add. Having the ‘power to influence’ the minds of our young people is an awesome power… too often, miss-used and abused.
When exercising the “Power of One” …we should do so… with maturity, honesty, compassion, and knowledge. We are told in James 3:5-8… Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
Now…just a note about Motherhood… Being a mother is a very important role that the Lord chooses to give to many women. A Christian mother is told to love her children (Titus 2:4-5), in part so that she does not bring reproach on the Lord and on the Savior whose name she bears.
The Bible says that those women whom the Lord blesses to be mothers should take the responsibility seriously. Mothers have a unique and crucial role in the lives of their children. Motherhood should not be viewed as a chore or unpleasant task. Just as a mother bears a child during pregnancy, then feeds and cares for that child during infancy, so mothers should also play an ongoing, and important role… in the lives of their children, whether they are adolescents, teenagers, young adults, or even adults with children of their own. While the role of motherhood, over time, does change and develop… the love, care, nurture, and encouragement a mother gives should never cease. God Bless ALL Mothers…
