“…Either you give-in to the company’s flawed-character …. Or you retreat. ….find a different job… one that reflects your own goals and standards…”

EIGHT signs you’re working for a FAILING company…or one that is up to NO-GOOD.

  1. God was “kicked-out” of the Board Room two years earlier.
  2. They discontinued the Christmas Bonus’s last year.
  3. The HVAC system works spasmodically.
  4. Your last two paychecks bounced.
  5. You’ve not seen your boss/owner in two weeks.
  6. The Boss’s Executive Assistant is “mysteriously missing.”
  7. The Boss’s wife is working week-ends at Pete’s-Pizza-Parlor.
  8. Seemingly… No-one believes in God.

OK….do I have your ATTENTION?  If any of these conditions look familiar to you… then get you running shoes on.  In fact, there’s likely many more subtle signs of failure… lurking about.

Companies are ‘no different than human-beings’ … as they have ‘personalities’ just as we do.  In fact, a company will ‘mirror’ the personality of its management, employees in general, or the stockholders.  Conversely, we often ‘mirror the personality’ of the company, and/or its sub-parts.  What is the old computer saying…?  ‘Garbage in…garbage out?’  If the company does not CHANGE… then YOU may likely be the one changing.  Either you give-in to the company’s flawed-character …. Or you retreat. ….find a different job… one that reflects your own goals and standards.

Here are four scriptures that speak clearly to the issue:  1 Corinthians 15:33 – Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”  Proverbs 13:20 – Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.  Psalm 1:1 -Psalms 1:1 – Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers.  Proverbs 6:27 – Can a man carry fire next to his chest and his clothes not be burned?  

Once… a former employee sought my advice about having joined a firm who ‘asked him to compromise his ethics.’   He knew… by taking the job… he would be ‘part and parcel’ of doing wrong… illegal stuff, as in FRAUD.  A few years down the road, several of the ‘higher-ups’… were actually sent to prison.  My former employee, along with the top two executives… seemed well-insulated.  While they did not ‘go to jail’… their lives are in shambles, and they likely will ‘pay the piper’ for all of time.

My purpose is NOT to deal with ‘how to amend one’s life, seek forgiveness, acknowledge Jesus Christ as having died on the cross for our sins, and to repent’ ….NO… rather, I speak to the issue of ‘staying out of trouble to start with.’   Evil strokes evil.  EVIL begets EVIL.  For people to associate with ‘dubious individuals’ or companies that are ‘up-to-no-good’… and doing it… KNOWINGLY… is the height of STUPIDIDY.  Sin is Sin… No matter the origin.

If you go into something BLINDLY, and find out later, that ‘their up to their knees in rattlesnakes’ then….. Get-out-of-the-swamp.  We all have ‘that little VOICE’ in our mind and hearts…some call a CONSCIENCE … others may call it the HOLY SPIRIT… that tells us IMMEDIATELY… that we are going in the WRONG direction.  Pay ATTENTION!  Think of your families…. Think of your SOUL… or ETERNITY.  Knowing right from wrong… is not ROCKET-SCIENCE…it’s….  COMMON-SENSE…. Something, we ALL have.  Just USE it.
