Camouflage clothing seems to be more and more popular, especially amongst the younger crowd. Just this past October, our State Fair people “refused” entry to people entering the Fair Grounds, who were dressed in Camouflage clothing. The reason given was that there were some “suspected relationship” between Camouflage and “gangs.” Some number of fathers and sons were (unaware of the connection), were therefore, sent away without opportunity to enjoy the Fair….um….too bad.
What is the purpose of camouflage clothing these days…anyway? In my younger years, it was the required clothing of the military for training, and duty, and still is today. Later, it seemed, that the design and effect was transferred over to the “hunters.” Are the hunters hiding from the game they’re hunting, or each other? It would seem a tab-bit dangerous to be un-recognized by other hunters because of “camouflage” dressing.
Just the other day, I noticed a casual suit made of “camouflage designed material,” which was worn my some “wanna-be-celebrity,” that looked “pretty smart,” but to me….out of place… even in Hollywood. Can you imagine a businessman showing up for a sales meeting dressed in camouflage?
But, we should be used to “camouflage” in the business community already. How? Well, we come to work “all dressed up,” in our business suits, or particular industrial ware…ready to put in a hard-day’s work. But, we have “no intention” of actually working…we’re just pretending…we’re wearing our “camouflage.” Like so, when some of us, even, get married… we dress-up for the part…but don’t walk the talk. We wearing “ our camouflage.” In the “social world,” we put up a front…as being something, or someone… that we’re not….not even close. We’re wearing our “camouflage.”
For some… we even wear our “camouflage” to Church…acting like “believer’s” when were not….again… not even close. We’re pretending to listen; we’re pretending to participate; we even pretend when we “confess our sins.” Who do we think we’re fooling? Even “make-up” wears off …not lasting a full day. We’re not fooling, at least not for long… our co-workers, or our bosses; and surely not our spouse; and maybe for a while we might fool our social contacts; but even they will eventually find us out, for who we are… pretenders…. Wearing our camouflage.
Some of our Church Leaders are even pretending to be… who they’re not. Instead of cassocks, vestments, ceremonial or choir robes….we are really wearing our Camouflage….pretending. The same holds true for Corporate Icons and Governmental Leaders….too, wearing CAMOUFLAGE…Some of us are so deeply entrenched in our Charade, that we think we even have God fooled. But remember… God will not be mocked. Galatians 6:7-8 – The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him. Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
