“…Exotic car salesmen are not interested in listening to a Honda Sales Manager… telling  them how to sell Rolls-Royce Phantoms…”

Leadership vs Responsibility: Take your Oxygen first.  Before you attempt to help others develop their career path; be sure that you take your oxygen first.  That is to say… BE PREPARED.

Don’t try teaching others to do what you don’t do that well yourself.  Don’t run around trying to put out a 5-Alarm fire with a 1-Alarm truck.  BE PREPARED.  Don’t try to teach someone how to ski…  if you are not well acquainted with the nuances of  skiing .  Giving someone the wrong solution to an complicated issue could spell death to the project, and/or the individuals involved.  Be a responsible Leader.

Further…  don’t attempt to coach someone on their career-path…  if your own career is in trouble, or if you consistently fall short of your own stated goals… Or those of management.   Exotic car salesmen are not interested in listening to a Honda Sales Manager telling them how to sell Rolls-Royce Phantoms.

The Blind leading the blind.   An expression applied to leaders who know as little as their followers …and are likely to lead them astray.  When it comes to science and technology, many politicians know as little, or less, as the average citizen.  It’s the blind leading the blind.

Jesus tells us through Matthew 15:13-14 – But Jesus replied, Every plant that My Heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by its roots. Disregard them!  They are blind guides.  If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit .

We as leaders have a RESPONSIBILITY to always stay PREPARED.  All professional people are involved in continuing education.  It makes no difference… rather they’re accountants, attorneys, engineers, educators, or doctors… they have to… and MUST …Stay-up-to-date with the LATEST information, techniques, and methods of the ever-changing standards of ones particular profession.

On the other hand …God does not change.  He needs no further preparation.  We are reminded in Malachi 3:6-7 – “For I, the LORD, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.  “From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from My statutes and have not kept them. Return to Me, and I will return to you,” says the LORD of hosts.

The bible is clear God’s word does not change.  In discussing God’s “plan of salvation” in Ephesians 2:8-10…  the apostle Paul sums it up in three verses… For it is by grace…  you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Jesus is simply saying to us… I am PREPARED to do anything to bring you to Me.

So, the question is:  Are we prepared?
