Are you easily DISTRACTED? Have you ever tried praying with your eyes open, as concentration is difficult at best. Pray while driving? Impossible! Either your driving is dangerously impacted, or you’re praying purposelessly and recklessly. I know many, including ministers, who say that pray all the time, while driving. I admit to it myself. Both are DISTRACTIONS.
Distractions occur at home, play, work, and Church. Most distractions are seldom fruitful. I find drifting off to sleep, under any condition, comfortably common. Falling asleep, even during a Church service is the best sleep one can encounter. My point: distractions are commonplace.
While Life’s distractions are common, it’s also something that we should work hard to control. We are told in 1 Corinthians 7:35 …I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.
Bluntly put… not much in the spiritual sense, at least on the surface, seems to be much of a distraction…Why? Because we humans spend so “little time” focused on God. It’s just a fact. One hour per week… at best. Sure… they’re exceptions…but few. Imagine? We are “created in the Image of the Lord God…. Creator of all of mankind…all of the universe….of all things. And, we can only find .005% of our time to spend in His Company.
Here is what God is doing while we are distracted with “worldly issues,” ….instead of placing Him above all else.
Genesis 1:27 – God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Jeremiah 29:11-12 – ‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
Luke 12:27 – “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.
If I’ve hit a nerve….sorry about that. …Blessings… cjlb… 1/18/16.
