“……First Impressions Do Count.” (or the Desperate 10)

“Listen to me………”

First Impressions Do Count.  Why do people say…first impressions don’t count?  Or, don’t rely on your first impression. Then there’s; I’m glad I waited for my 2nd impression. To me…FIRST impressions are what I rely on FIRST.  If I don’t have a good (enough) first impression, then, I don’t bother for the 2nd or 3rd.  I mean to say that if my first impression works 90% of the time, why waste time “digging” through the process, in order to find a better impression in the remaining 10%?  I call it the Desperate 10.  No first – no rest.  A very important element in first impressions, is it gives one an quick inventory of what they want and don’t want.  From that, you collect knowledge that helps you evaluate the rest over time; developing a skill for giving proper measure to one’s first impressions.  Leaders must be adept in capturing the complete set of elements, very quickly, in order to give a fair and impartial evaluation, in order for a first impression to be of consequence.   I’ve been in the business world for 5 decades, and have made 1000’s of life and business decisions, and have always relied on my first impression; and fortunately, have a 90% success rate.  The Bible warns us, though, not to jump to conclusions; to judge the heart of a man, not the outside.  And, I do, as I judge that part of the heart that surfaces in my first impression.  And, when I do employ 2nd impressions, I do solely for purpose of substantiating my first impression.  What do you do? …..Blessings…..cjlb…..8/20/13
