“…Following ‘the wrong guy,’ knows no age limits; no time limits, and no racial, cultural, or ethnic limits…”

I have no idea, nor do I care, what the movie is about… nor would I ever consider going to see it. So… why do I care? Well… I don’t care about the movie… but I do care about the movie TITLE. It reminds me of what our society is all about.

We are, I think, caught up in just “riding along.” Or… just, “going along for the ride.” We have lost our sense of “originality.” We’re a society of COPY-CATS. There is nothing, particularly, wrong with copying someone… if you are emulating those qualities, or skill-sets, which are of quality in nature, and substance. Are you emulating someone who, by doing so, will bring you creditability and praise? Or, worse… are you caught up in coping the guy who is up to “no-good,” …the guy who is going to LEAD you into TROUBLE?

Too often, we have this tendency to “follow” those who we look up to for any number of “odd” reasons. They, seemingly, are BIG-SHOTS and we want to be “just like them.” Or, she looks “so cool” with that TATOO… we want to be COOL, as well. Or worse…we were just “riding along 2, for something to do… but we didn’t know they were going to rob the local convenience store. Now, we’re in big trouble, because “he said” we were part of “the gang.”

1 Corinthians 15:33-34 – Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” Become sober-minded as you ought, and stop sinning; for some have no knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame. We all remember the cliché …if you get in bed with a dog, you’re going to get up smelling like a dog. It’s TRUE, rather we are teens, young adults, or even middle-age.

Following “the wrong guy,” knows no age limits; no time limits, and no racial, cultural, or ethnic limits. The dumbest and the smartest of us… make these types of mistakes… “Riding Along 2.” We can overcome these tendencies to “ride along 2,” by having more precise, positive, absolute, and GODLY plans to achieve our goals.

We can START and FINISH by having a more positive relationship with God. We can do this by PRAYING often, and with complete belief, and confidence, that “God will lead us… not into temptation… but will deliver us from evil.” Romans 12:1-21 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
