“…For me…I admit…I have to remove my mask…almost… everyday…”

The Great IMPOSTER: Do you remember the 1961 movie starring Tony Curtis, where this fellow takes on the “real-life-role” of dozens of people of a span of many years. The, a more recent one, based on the real life story of Frank Abagnale. He cashed over $4 million worth of fake checks. He successfully posed as a doctor, an airplane pilot and a lawyer. He did all of this before he turned 20.  Catch Me If You Can is based on this interesting life. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as the imposter. Tom Hanks plays an amalgam of FBI agents who pursued and eventually caught the counterfeiter.

Too often, our Leaders become the biggest of imposters, and sometimes, even…ourselves.   Some leaders, who are never true to themselves, or their followers… instead, hide behind a cloud of fakery. They have built a defense mechanism around themselves for self-preservation. They are actors on a stage, and we are the audience. They lose their identity, while        seeking corporate stardom; often at the sacrifice of life, career, and family.

We are cautioned in…2 Timothy 3:1-5 – But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

Even we…you and me, sometimes fall victim to the “charade of being an imposter.”  As told to us in Isaiah 29:13 And the Lord said: “Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by me.

We call ourselves “followers of Christ,” but in reality….we follow the “matters of the world.” We have given satan a “foot-hold.” Maybe it’s time we take off our “masks” and re-submit to Christ….Surrendering our soul to Him.

For me…I admit…I have to remove my mask…almost… everyday.…Blessings…cjlb… 8/11/16
