“…For some… salvation comes easily…others, maybe… it will take a heart attack… and for many more…  Jesus has to wake them up from the dead…”

John 11:34-36:  “Where have you laid him (Lazarus)?  In the tomb.  Jesus wept.  And they said, see how He loved him.”

Keep this verse in the back of your mind, while I try to paint a picture for you.

Imagine this: If it takes 50 strokes of paint, side by side, to cover ½ of a 12’x100’ wall; (with each stroke you make, the color is a shade darker).  Now… you take one more stroke… and, you will have ½ of the wall complete, plus one stroke.  Can you visualize this in your mind?

Ok…let us just assume that the “one-stroke extra” represents that point in time… when God entered your life, on the road to your Salvation.  Would you… necessarily… have felt the difference?  Look at the wall; is there that much color difference from one end to the other?  NO… with only one more stroke …the shade difference… is not that noticeable.

Now …imagine when you’ve completed 99 strokes… lacking only one more stroke to completion.  Now… when making that final stroke, will you notice the difference in the total wall?  I’d think YES… because the wall is now complete.  Just as God has finished the transition for us…. we will recognize the end result as being totally different… but likely…we did not notice the gradual change in color in the wall.  It was subtle a change.

For some of us… this is the way that Jesus enters our lives…very subtlety, a stroke at a time, likely…undetectable.  For others; the 51st stroke is recognizable …as a totally different color.  Thus they will sense the immediate transformation; some remembering the exact date, time and circumstance.

But in either scenario…ABRUPT… or SUBTLE …Jesus would have been weeping for us.  Jesus ‘loves us’ … just as He did Lazarus…and, just as He does all of mankind.

For some… salvation comes easily (a stroke at a time)…others, maybe… it will take a heart attack… and for many more…  Jesus has to wake them up from the dead.  Jesus doesn’t give up on us easily.  In the end… it’s a CHOICE, on our own part… we can CHOOSE JESUS… or we can take sides with the evil one… satan.
