“Be wise as a serpent and gentle as a lamb”… as told to us in Matthew 10:16. This very wise scripture offers us great wisdom… which can apply to everyday career issues, social environs, family matters…and Godly relationships?
The conditions are the same, no matter where one might try to apply them. As employers, or even leaders… we, like the Apostles, are going about hazardous work all the time… meeting enemies as fierce and savage as wolves. Commerce is eaten up with such blood sucking culprits; always trying to defeat us at all costs; just as satan is trying to do on every possible occasion.
To be successful… as in any endeavor, we MUST be wise as a serpent and gentle as a lamb…. In order to survive… all who desire to live Godly lives, in Christ, shall meet with sufferings, such that were commonly found in Christ’s ambassadors. The Apostles, who encountered the deepest of trials…. Only one dying a natural death.
Great leaders… as, even, Corporate CEO’s, come and go, too often, as victims of the system …that is…victims of success at all costs. We must be smarter than our enemies and counterparts. Be wise and faithful ….because… in the business world…it’s hard to find both attributes in the same person. There are many, the wise, but fewer are both wise and faithful.
God, our Maker… expects us to be BOTH… just as he does in the marriage contract. Remember the saying…it’s easier to drive a camel through the eye of a needle….my own favorite is: thank you for looking through the “eye-of-the-needle.” While this might be difficult to achieve for many of us… it’s also just as common to a committed, and faithful, believer.
Do not be fearful, though…because we, as… God’s own creation… in His Image; so, the ingredients are there for success … in all that we do. Because God has gifted us with “free will”… both the wise and the faithful are well within our reach. It is embedded in each of us, but only becomes active… when we choose to activate it. As always… it’s our choice.
It’s a matter of choosing “good over evil.”
