“…he learned that distance is not an obstacle to a Father’s love…”

Self-discipline is the catalyst to Success.

Lesson’s learned the hard way. I recently heard the story, by recent US Senatorial candidate, Det Bowers, Jr., about an experience he had, when as a 10 year, working on his Father’s farm, he was assigned the job of helping his father by plowing a field one early morning. Dad told him to stay out of the “low area,” as he would get bogged down if he went to close to the bottom. The young farmer, wanting to please his father, thought that he would get as close to the wet area as he could, without getting bogged down, thereby impressing his Father with his tractor skills. It was not long before he “was bogged down” in the low area. He waited late in the afternoon for his father to return. Dad never said a word, rather, he and the young farmer, set out down the road to a neighboring farm, and brought back two additional tractors and 4 more men, to get the tractor out of the bog. They lost an entire day, and had not accomplished anything in terms of plowing.  Dad NEVER said anything to young Det, as he knew how remorseful Det was, and adding fuel to the fire served no purpose. The lessons learned by the young farmer were, first… do as the Father says. He knew too, that his Father loved him above all else, and he showed that love by trusting him to the same assignment the following morning. And, such assignment…. He did not fail. He also learned that the Father never abandons the son. He was there for him in the time of his need.   And, he learned that distance is not an obstacle to a Father’s love.  God’s love knows no distance or boundaries.  The Father has no Pride. Deuteronomy 31:6 says – “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.” Not only did Det Bowers, Jr., the young farmer; turned lawyer and then preacher, learn an important lesson early in life, but he is able to share that lesson with us as he also lives by: Matthew 28:19 –“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  This is the same verse that leads me to share Det’s story with you, and also is the reason this website is in existence.  … Blessings…cjlb…7/2/14
