You pass out “hope” likes its candy….This was mentioned, as a compliment, while attending a recent Bible Study program; in regards to the featured Speaker (not me). And, it reminded me of how remarkably talented some of our Christian Leaders, and others, who are so “willing to give” from the heart, their time, and their pocketbook, to those who need guidance, financial assistance, higher educational opportunities, and even “father-figures” to guide the younger ones. Just the other day I read where a local citizen who had died 4 or 5 years ago, and it was “just-now” being reported that he left his “entire fortune” to the less fortunate; saying that
he had taught his children how to make money, and didn’t leave them any. They’re all kinds of people who are bequeathing fortunes to local, regional, national, and international humanitarian efforts. Likewise, they’re many thousands of philanthropic types who give notable fortunes to the less fortunate. The Faith Community has been supporting foreign missions for several centuries, to include, educational efforts, water systems, and health care facilities; all being supported by religious efforts. The USA is the “most giving” country in the world; surpassing all other countries combined. With all that said; compare all of the above with what Jesus Christ offers each of us, and the entire world community. He provides more HOPE than all other sources of Hope combined. He promises to provide our every NEED; He promises to protect us from the snares of the devil. In return, He only asks us to acknowledge that He is our Lord and Savior, to confess and repent of our sins, and to live our lives according to His word. What a deal! But, it’s the same deal He offered the people of Israel, when fleeing Egypt; yet because they denounced His “gift,” He delayed their arrival at the land of “milk and honey,” by some 40 years. Today, there are no delays, because He died for our sins; we have only to say YES to Jesus. Hebrews 10:23 – Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds. …Blessings…cjlb…4/11/14
