Sure… I think EXPERIENCE is great… and all that…but, I would not have enjoyed many successes that I have… had there not been concessions along the way. Just about every major undertaking I’ve been involved has been with limited experience…and not near enough education.
Here’s my point: Division Accountant; Division Chief Accountant; Corporate Credit Manager; Assistant Controller; and Controller…all…without a 4 year college degree. And, YES… thanks be to God… I got my degree… plus one. The difference is: how one approaches his responsibilities. I was ‘always willing’ to work long days, without lunch, all Saturdays…all without extra pay …just to stay ahead of my competition. Of course… experience is better. Just look at the Whitehouse, and Congress… so… it’s evident what the lack of experience will… ‘make do.’ Experience, while not necessary… is better.
Let’s review what scripture says about ‘experience.’ In… 1 Samuel 12:2 – And now, behold, the king walks before you, and I am old and gray; and behold, my sons are with you. I have walked before you from my youth until this day.
On the other hand…what kind of experience did Moses have? And… Peter, John, and Paul? All of them…all of the disciples… lacked the necessary experience. But, Jesus tells us in…
John 14:15-17 – “If you love me, you will obey my commandments. I will ask the Father, and he will give you another helper who will be with you forever. That helper is the Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him, because it doesn’t see or know him. You know him, because he lives with you and will be in you.
So, how to we get ‘prepared’ to go about life… To do the biddings of career demands, family issues, and spiritual commitments? The Apostle John gives us the answer in Jesus’s own words in…
John 14:12-15 – “I can guarantee this truth: Those who believe in me will do the things that I am doing. They will do even greater things because I am going to the Father. I will do anything you ask the Father in my name so that the Father will be given glory because of the Son. If you ask me to do something, I will do it. “If you love me, you will obey my commandments.
And Luke tells us in…. Luke 9:1-2 – When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick
…Blessings as we seek…. the ‘power and authority’ of God… through Jesus… cjlb…10/30/2017
