OBLIGATION vs. ENVY:
Obligation: I promised….and I will keep my promise. Envy: I’d liked to have the same thing that you have. These are two very popular characteristics found in business today; and have totally different meanings. Personally; I’ve faired pretty well in dealing with both of these issues. I’ve ALWAYS met my obligation, even to my own detriment or disadvantage. I don’t think that I’ve ever envied what someone else possessed. I am guilty of wanting some of the same things that other people have; but I’m unconcerned as to who else has one. But the problems that I am referring to are more attuned to our career hopefuls that relax ethical standards in order to avoid an obligation that they’re committed to keep. Once one starts to break promises, they will continue to keep that characteristic; and will eventually kill any hopes of fulfilling their success goals. Obligations, or commitments, are to be adhered to rather they are business, personal, or spiritual. To be envious, besides being sinful, is, over time, very expensive to maintain. I’ve known people who try to “keep up with the Jones’s,” who usually lose their careers, their families, and their self esteem. Envy can be very expensive and devastating. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil. …Blessings…cjlb…10/6/13
