Here, I bet…is something you’ve NEVER thought about: What’s the basic difference between believers and non-believers? They could be equals – except for…
Consider this: I believe in being honest, faithful, committed to job and family. I am trustworthy, charitable, helpful to the less fortunate, and don’t judge my neighbor. I’m thrifty, yet charitable; I share my talents and processions. I pay homage to the elderly, adore children, and like people of all size, shape, and color. I respect others; their feelings, their needs, traditions, families, culture, heritage, sexual preference, and their religion.
All that I ask… in return, is… that these same people respect me in the exact same manner, including respecting the fact that I don’t believe in their God, or… their religion. I am a non-believer!
With all that said… PLEASE know…really… that none of this applies to me, personally, but it could be me – or, it could be you – or anyone. But, by the GRACE of GOD…it’s neither.
The point I make is that a BELIEVER and NON-believer are… basically… equals (having the same attributes), with the exception of believing in God and Jesus Christ. The reason there is little difference is this scenario: The national average of the amount of time Christians spend in worship is about 2 hours per week, leaving 166 hours for “whatever,” whereas the non-believer… well…he spends 168 hours per week doing “whatever.”
So, with the exception of a “piddley 2 hours” per week… Christians and Non-believers are, or could be, the same. There are millions, upon millions… for whom this might apply. We’re all made in the Image of God. He knows every hair on our head. Why then, do some refuse Him… and some not? Obviously, because of… FREE-WILL.
God’s mercy has no limits if you go to Him with a sincere and contrite heart. His door is always open. Ephesians 2:8-10 – For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
I once had a neighborhood acquaintance who told me of not ever wanting children; as they decided early on that there was no room for children in their lives, as both, had great academic futures… ahead of them, and children “would not be part of that life”… only a hindrance. Having three children of my own, I knew life without my children would be “no life…at all.” Three years later, I ran into my “former neighbor,” and he told me of their accidental pregnancy, and now… with a two-year old daughter under tow… they could not conceive of being without the love, harmony, sweetness, and the completeness of their lives….all because of a “accidental pregnancy;” which was…. More appropriately… a true GIFT from God.
This family of two… were, actually… non-believers. Today, they are a family of three BELIEVERS. So ends the story. Who said there is not a God?
