Thou Shalt NOT LIE! There is ‘no shaded’ area in this comment. It is as plain as the nose on your face. Everyone KNOW when they’re in the midst of a LIE. It’ IMPOSSIBLE to see it any other way.
It’s a sin to tell a LIE!!
In today’s society, and likely all those before… lying is a ‘natural course.’ Some do it out of habit; others so as to avoid further argument or discussion. Yet, for the most part, we lie to keep the TRUTH from showing its ugly head. Then as now, people routinely inject deceit into their relationships, personal, social, political, religious and economic. The dearth of honesty is so widely accepted that public censure no longer even discourages lying. That demand must come from within.
I KNOW all about lying. I used to be a ‘big-time-liar.’ No-body likes a liar. Liars don’t even like ‘other liars.’ No one knew me as a liar. My lying…served absolutely ‘no useful purpose.’ Yes…I’ve told ‘my share’ of big black lies, but for the most part…I am (or was) an ‘ego-liar.’ Like when I was 25, I was 5’11”, today… I’m 5’10”…ok…5’9″ (see what I mean). Or I made $25K on a deal, when I really only made $19K. It’s not so much that I lied, but better said: I didn’t tell the whole TRUTH. I’ll not reveal any more than that. The consequence can be BAD…BAD…and, more BAD….and, worse too. So…don’t do it. Don’t LIE. Lying is not good for your mental health, and certainly not for your ‘spiritual’ health.
We are told in Luke 12:2-3 – There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not will be made known. What you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the housetops.… Just for the record: I quit lying… a long, long…time ago.
There is not any justification for lying. Ever. When we lie, we are telling the other person, the one we’re lying to… “I don’t trust you with the TRUTH.” Eventually, the TRUTH will prevail. Always. If not here (on earth), then it will prevail in the ‘hereafter.’ The TRUTH will get you to heaven, and a LIE… might…get you to hell… and you won’t find any friends, or consolation there.
Remember what Jesus said …the TRUTH will set you FREE. John 8:31-32 – So He said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
If there is ‘anything’ that will set one’s personal life in a turmoil… it’s a LIE. Just don’t lie. A lie will hurt someone… particularly… a loved one….far more that the TRUTH could ever hurt.
Here’s some sound career advice….if you EVER hear your Leader tell a lie (of any kind or degree) run as fast to the door as humanly possible….cus’ it’s only going to get worse. Don’t LIE.
