Well…. ABNORMAL… is my NORMAL: I’ve always been thought of as being a bit on the ‘weird’ side… (Ask my wife and children)… and have come to accept… that my ‘abnormality’ is actually my NORMAL. And, it fits me pretty well. Being abnormal has taken me pretty far in this most confusing world.
Might I suggest… that if one ‘blends into the wall’ too much… then ‘no one knows’ that they are there. I mean to say… If I were to walk into a room and no one even knew that I was there… that I had gone “unnoticed” … then, I may as well not be there… better to stay at home. This has nothing to do with ego… or, wanting to be noticed. Rather… it has everything to do with… ‘How to influence people’ for the GREATER GOOD… of mankind… and for the ‘honor and glory’ of God.
The trick is this: if you’re going to ‘be noticed’ (for any reason)… then give them something to notice. If we don’t display the “image that God gave us upon creation”…. then, we have nothing to offer our fellowman. If ‘people don’t see GOOD’… then, what is there to see? EVIL. We have a choice as to what we want people to see. We have a choice as to the impression we want others to have. A GOOD first impression…. Or a lasting BAD impression.
Too often… we only get one chance to make the right impression.
Some years ago… I had an opportunity for a consulting contract, worth thousands per month. I worked very hard getting to the point of signing a contract. Verbally … I had it in the bag. We were all excited. Me? I was a ‘bit too excited.’ I remember saying…. “This is great! It reminds me of the fellow riding a city bus… it jostled him around so much that he got an ‘X–Rated High.’” Now tell me…. How STUPID can one get? It was the height of stupidity. It was ‘so unnecessary’ and unprofessional. And for sure… not God-like. I was displaying the image of the evil-one. Needless to say… I NEVER heard from them again… and I DESERVED it.
I left a lasting… BAD impression. I admit…I say… and do, some of the dumbest things… sometimes.
Now…please… listen to me… I learned a serious, and expensive… lesson from my mistake that day. If you cannot speak in a ‘godly way’… then KEEP your mouth SHUT!
My purpose today… is to HELP YOU… learn from my mistake… and not learn it the hard way… as I did.
The Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 4:29…Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Many blessings to ‘all those weird’ people out there…. cjlb… 8/22/2018.
