What kind of Legacy do you want to leave? What will your family, friends, survivors, peers, co-workers, and superiors think of you when you pass from this world to the next? Would they wish that others would think of them, in the same manner as what they think of you? My goals; all throughout my career, were to succeed in behalf of my God, my Family, and my Career. And, thanks be to God….all went well.
Capitalism dictates that we measure one another in terms of what we have to “show” for our efforts; and our achievements. I was reputed to be…smart, fair, respectful, shrewd….a paid SOB, and enjoyed some degree of success. And, oh yeah…I went to Church and put God ahead of “almost everything.” All of this amounts to …squat. Zilch. Nil. Zero. It gets me nowhere…. Fast.
But…. that is not the Legacy I want to be remembered for. I pray…. NOW… that my Legacy might be…as follows: He was a giving man, considerate, loving, caring, and supportive. He put God above all else, he was my Christian brother, he was there when I was desperate; he helped me when no one else would. He was a Godly man….he clothed me when I was naked, he fed me when I was hungry….. Matthew 25:35-36 – For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’
This is what God expects from us…. To be like Him, and His Son, and to be Godly. Paul said, we “know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.”16
I want my Legacy to reflect my Love for Christ, for God, His Father, and for my Neighbor as for myself. How do you want to be remembered?
