“…I pride myself in self-control. It is an exercise in mental, emotional, and spiritual strength….”

Self-control…. I don’t take it for granted.  Even the success of a diet is based on self-control.  In fact, I can’t think of anything that we, as humans do, that is not subject to self-control.  There is a stopping point to everything that we do.  Or, should I say… there should be a stopping point.  It’s our failure to determine the appropriate stopping point that is, ultimately, our un-doing.  I remember in a college History class, where the Professor told the class to answer any 10 of the 15 questions presented, and not a single question more.  Half the class answered all 15 questions thinking that we would get extra points, or to prove that we knew  all the answers.  He docked us 10% for every question in EXCESS of the first 10, giving me a 50%, or failing grade.  Pay attention…he says…follow directions. Too often, when someone says NO…we ignore them; even when it’s bad for our health, welfare, or our general well-being… we don’t know when to stop.  The problem, in our society, is that we don’t place boundaries in anything we do, say, watch, or listen to.  I remember a few years ago, the television industry was testing the market on “gay-life-styles.”  You would see two guys, or girls, giving a certain look, that we all knew what was meant by it, then a year later, a certain gentle embrace, or peck on the check.  Now-a-days…Katie…bar the door.  You can watch the afternoon soap-opera, or movies, and see “very passionate kissing” between same-sex-people.  There’s simply NO-LIMITS…. NO-SELF-CONTROL.  For me… I pride myself in self-control.  It is an exercise in mental, emotional, and spiritual strength.  God did not make us to do evil things; rather, He made us in His likeness…to be like Him.  Ephesians 5: 5-10You know this. There are people who use sex wrongly, and who are always wanting what others have. No such a person has any place in the kingdom of Christ and of God. He is worshipping an idol.  Do not let anyone fool you by their empty talk. It is because people do these wrong things that God is very angry. He is angry with the people who do not obey him.  So then, have nothing to do with them. You were in the dark before, but now the Lord has given you light. Live like people who have the light.  People who have the light do all that is good and right and true.  Learn what pleases the Lord.   Blessings… cjlb…4/16/14
