We ABIDE, in order to survive in this crazy world. My problem is…I’m not good at ABIDING. I don’t like to wait; I’m a bit intolerant; and non-conforming. I like rules, but only if I’m the “rule-maker.” I used to go by the adage that a rule is not a good rule, unless it can be broken.
I surely don’t like to conform. I know, it doesn’t match my traditionalist lifestyle, and I realize all too well, that, if we are not able to ABIDE, we will find “very-rough” roads ahead. I’ve always bucked the system, and have found myself taking a long walk off of a short pier too many times. And, it’s lonely.
Now… instead, let’s talk about Abiding in the sense of DWELLING. I try very hard to ABIDE as we are told in… John 15:7 – If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
Very often the problem comes when God’s words are not abiding (dwelling) in us. In order for the Word of God to ABIDE in us, we must place into action what we hear from Him. James 1:22 tells us… But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
Dear Lord, God of all mankind…bless us with Your ABIDING Word. Teach us to be a CONDUIT of Your Abiding Word…that it might DWELL in our Hearts. ….Blessings…cjlb…1/11/16
