“…I tell this story to emphasize what ‘hard work’ will do for one who is ‘committed, prepared, responsible, and has a sense of integrity…”

DESTINY:  “Destiny is not a matter of chance; but a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for; it is a thing to be achieved.”   — William Jennings Bryan

For me… if I had ‘waited’ for my destiny to KICK-IN (in the normal course of events) in my life… I’d still be waiting.  There were NO entitlements in my life.  There was no inheritance; no rich uncle, no family friend to open doors, and for a ‘long time’… NO EDUCATION.  As the saying goes… ‘no-body gave me nuttin.’  So, then, how did I get from a ‘normal middle income family member’… to where I am today.  I say ‘that’… a bit tongue in cheek… as to ‘where I am today,’ is a matter of perspective.  It would be my view, vs… someone else’s.

The ANSWER:  I worked my tail off!  I started college at age 20, and it took me 11 years of ‘night-school’ to achieve my first degree, and two more years to get my next degree.  I worked 60 hours per week, and every Saturday of my life.  It was my dear wife, who introduced, and maintained, our three children’s interest and participation in sports, and all extracurricular activities. Thanks be to God.

I was ‘very blessed’ to have employers who were not only willing to work with me, take a chance on me, and even… assist me financially.  Most of my employers had a tuition re-imbursement program.  With all that said, at age 33… I was a Corporate VP – Director of Finance of a multimillion dollar corporation… with a salary of $35K, and a company car… in the year 1971… some 46 years ago.

I don’t share this story to brag… rather…  I tell it to emphasize what ‘hard work’ will do for one who is ‘committed, prepared, responsible, and has a sense of integrity.  Did I accomplish it alone?  Heck NO!  God had a PLAN, and I made it my business to “cooperate with His Plan.”   Jeremiah himself says  to us in the Book of Jeremiah 29:11 I know the plans I have for you,” announces the Lord. “I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you. I will give you hope for the years to come.

But like ‘all’ that God does for us… He offers His help, His plan for our FUTURE… He does not FORCE His help down our throats.  We have to be a ‘willing participant’ if we want our DESTINY to equate to God’s plan for us.  Our COOPERATION is a CHOICE.  We decide if we want… that which… God wants for us.  It is our CHOCE … to choose God, or satan.

…Blessings to all… as we seek to fulfill God’s PLAN for our DESTINY…cjlb…. 10/11/2017
