“… I want to make sure that “these people,” and I, have settled our differences in life, and that all is well…”

20130924_155130This is pure speculation… but how would you live out the day, if you knew you weren’t going to finish the day out?  Only a few of us will know the last day, as in being terminally ill, and knowing we only have a few days left; and being fully alert.  The other 95% will never know what hit them.  I’d like to think that I would just “keep on…keeping on.”  That sounds good, and brave too, but in the reality of things…. It’s just not going to happen that way.  But there is a way around some of the “hard-stuff,” leading up to the end.  We could, if we choose, live our lives in such a way, as that any day could be the last, and all the unfinished business (short of what an Executor of your estate might have to do) is pretty much caught-up on an everyday basis.  For me, and my bride; well…..we have a very sophisticated “end-of-life-book,” that has absolutely everything in it that any Executor (or remaining spouse) would need.  No need to look further.  I didn’t buy this anywhere; but it took several months to design the layout, categorize the contents, and put it in a permanent binder; until the time for its need arises.  The only remaining details would be to keep up with certain friends, and others whose status is important to me.  I will need to make sure that “all of those folks,” know that I love them, that I care about them, and that they understand that “all is well.”  I can do this, and I try to do it on a daily basis, to make sure that there is no significant breech between me and anyone who holds a significant place in my life.  I want to make sure that “these people,” and I, have settled our differences in life, and that all is well.  I can do this by being respectful of everyone in my path, as a daily routine; treating them according to the Golden Rule.  Outside of the “shock” of my demise, there will be no unfinished business.  We all can do this, and should.  But all of this earthly stuff….pales…in comparison to any unfinished business that we have with God.  Sure…. God knows where we stand, and we know….but, have we dealt with it all?  There is “no open account,” that is more important than our account with Jesus Christ.  The process, today, is the same as it was 2000 years ago.  We must CONFESS our sins, we must REPENT of our sins, we must CONVERT from evil to good; we must have FAITH that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.  Peter says in Acts 2:38“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” …Blessings… cjlb…6/24/14
