Here’s some “holiday” advice…un-solicited…. Take some time off…. Away from the job. Spend some time with your wife. Spend some time with God. Spend some , This advice is the type advice that I’ve “never taken” myself, had someone suggested it. It’s the type advice that I could never AFORD to take…. I was “too busy” chasing the next opportunity…. The next dollar…. The next challenge.
I wish that someone would have tried to persuade me to do what I’m trying to persuade you to do. Look at it this way. This time away from the job…. It’s a time that you could considerate it to be…. Like… a Master’s Degree. It’s something that you need to do in order to get ahead in your life, your career, and your spiritual aspirations.
The time away from “the job,” that you spend with your WIFE, is absolutely NECESSARY to ENHANCE the return on your marital investment. If you want a long-term, and happy marriage, with the girl of your dreams…then spend that extra time “smelling the roses;” before the rose wilts.
Then, take some time and have a serious “conversation with God.” I have a young friend who believes in God, but doesn’t KNOW God. He says that what he really needs is a girl-friend….I say… what he absolutely NEEDS is a relationship with God. When you have God in your heart, then “absolutely everything” else will fall into place. Your career, your family life, your relationship with your children, friends, and your social life… will all fall into place. Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
And lastly, you will be required, according to my plan, to spend some time alone…just with yourself. This time… ALONE…will be a time to REFLECT on what you want to do with your life…. What your priorities are. …. that which is most important to you. This can be done, no matter your age, no matter your station in life…no matter the consequence.
There is a time and a place for everything… so says the Lord. Ecclesiastes 3:1-22 – For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.
