“… I wasn’t planning on ‘waiting’ on anyone. If there was ‘no-action,’ then I would ‘make my own action’…”

PAT20131220_223758IENCEThey say that Patience is a Virtue…. I know when I started my career some 56+ years ago… I was a Fire Engine looking for a FIRE. I was “on fire.” I was all dressed up, and “ready to go.” I was going to “set the world on a tilt.” But there was a few things amiss. I was only 19, just married, no education beyond the 12th grade… and no money. But hey… I had a “good attitude.” I knew how to play the part. I looked older than my years. And, I thought the “sun had set in my back yard.”

My first job (as a married adult in 1959) paid $60 per week. I was thinking…. If I made $100 per week… what would I do with all that money? My wife made $55 per week…. And we were RICH. My car was paid for; I had a few dollars in the bank.  And, I was “in love.” What else did I need….oh ’I know…an education.  But… I had a plan of ACTION (POA)…. even then.

I started “night school,” and 12 years later, I was finished… proudly with two degrees, and making $35,000 a year as a Corporate Controller… in 1971, and only 32 years old. My “whole life was ahead of me.” Forty-four years later… and I’m still looking for the next deal… or opportunity.  I was “on a mission,” and there was “no-time” to be wasted.   I wasn’t planning on “waiting” on anyone.  If there was “no-action,” then I would “make my own action.”

I NEVER was good at being PATIENT. I cannot stand lines. I cannot stand waiting.   But one thing that I’ve learned over the years….was the “art of patience.” Sure… I want things to happen… but I know that it takes time; and for sure…today… I’m not on a CLOCK. And, at 76… I know that my time is short… but God in in CONTROL of all that…but, I’m counting on another 20 years. And, I want to live every day to the fullest. I want to INFLUENCE others to “the best deal in town.” …….The Lord, God, Jesus Christ.

2nd Peter 3:9 tells us….The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is PATIENT with us, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. We work hard, seeking our place in the Sun; getting Educated, learning our Trade; aspiring to become Leaders; wrestling with the Economy; providing for our Families….but PROGRESS, sometimes, is slow to come. God is on a different time-frame than we are. God is PATIENT with us; we must be PATIENT with our fellowman. God is a forgiving God; we must forgive as we seek forgiveness. God wants us to be happy and successful; and He will provide…we must be PATIENT.

James 5:7 – Be patient therefore, brothers, to the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. James 5:8 – Be you also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draws near.

One thing is for sure…when God is ready…. I’ll be ready!  …Blessings…cjlb.8/27/15.
