WAVE-MAKER vs. TROUBLE-MAKER: I am the former. I’m a “wave-maker.” This should not be confused with “trouble-maker.” Although there are some who would ARGUE the point. A “wave-maker” is just that… a wave maker. A trouble maker can be both… a wave maker and/or a trouble-maker. The big difference between the two… is: The WAVE-MAKER has “no-ill-will” as his agenda. A WAVE-MAKER is generally on a MISSION. If “his making waves” has the effect of “causing trouble,” then that’s a by-product, but not the intended MISSION.
A “trouble-maker” always has an AGENDA… he’s wanting to cause turmoil… to cause trouble… to create a scene… to feed his EGO. He has “ill-will” is his AGENDA. He’s “just a TROUBLE-MAKER,” …. Clear and simple. A “trouble-maker” cannot be TRUSTED.
I am a “wave-maker” because I’m a “challenger.” I challenge the “status-quo.” One cannot make progress by sitting still. I’m an ADVOCATE of “doing something, even if it’s wrong.” Once, 15 years ago; my Bride and I, and her two sisters and their husbands, were on a trip going up the east coast. I was driving, and “no one would tell me where to turn.” I just kept going… and going. So, I announced…I’m going to take the next exit… and will keep taking the next exit… until someone tells me precisely where to turn. I took the next exit, and it took another 15 miles of going in the WRONG direction… to get them “off-center.” Finally… a decision was made. I was given my “travel-instructions.”
That’s what I do… I FORCE results. I MAKE things HAPPEN. I’m a “thinker and a doer.” Katie…. Bar the door. I ask “probing questions,” and respectfully…. Demand ANSWERS. I don’t take “no for an answer.” The word “no” is too easy. Other’s will say “no” when in doubt. I say “yes” with “no-doubt.” Am I “sometimes wrong?”… Well sure. A “doer” is sometimes wrong. But a “status-quo” (a do-nothing) is seldom ever right.
I would rather have someone describe me as “being negative” that say “nothing” about me. If you want to “avoid criticism,” then take the HIGH-ROAD… and say nothing…and RISK…being nothing. As much as I hate being WRONG… I rather be wrong… then be “nothing.” I would rather be a “wave-maker,” then to be pushed… by the wave.
Remember…God doesn’t like a “lukewarm-Christian.” We’re told in Revelations 3:15-16 – ‘I know your deeds that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. ‘So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. ‘Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.
The Bible is laced with “wave-makers,” starting with Moses, then Solomon, David, John the Baptizer, and Jesus Christ, who died on the cross, so that “we” might have life-ever-lasting.
PS: I’m dedicating today’s posting to my brother Walter, who was a “Tsuami” when it comes to being a “wave-maker.” Happy birthday to Walter Warren Lehman Brooks – 9/11/1938 > 9/17/2008. God Bless his soul and his family.
