“…If a Leader makes an error…being humble and admitting it will ENDEAR him to all of his followers, and will STRENGTHEN his leadership…”

HUMILITY: A word for EVERYONE.  Humility is not only useful in the Corporate World, at all levels… but, in order to be successful in all of life’s endeavors; then…. Humility is, in the long run…an absolute necessity.

It makes no difference… if we’re talking about career issues; social issues…family and home life…and certainly humility would be a useful characteristic in our Spiritual lives.

From a career perspective… If a leader makes an error…being humble and admitting it will ENDEAR him to all of his followers, and will STRENGTHEN his leadership. We all love it when the big guy admits an error.  This is not necessarily a trend in the corporate world, but one that should be.  Paul reminds us in Philippians 2:4 – “Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also the interest of others.”

Speaking socially… taking a backseat to others will make you the popular guy in your circle of friends.  Putting ‘friendship ahead of personal’ endeavors… will always trump ego.

And, when it comes to our spiritual life… this is where HUMBLENESS is the most important.  Putting others first, as Christ did… when He died on the Cross for all of us…is the ‘very essence’ of His time on earth.  When Christ went about His public life for nearly 3 ½ hears…time and time again… He humbled himself before man.  Remember his words to Peter when he cut the ear off of the soldier…as said in Matthew 26:52-54 – “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him. “For all who draw the sword will die by the sword.  Are you not aware that I can call on My Father, and He will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?  But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”

But instead of calling on those ‘legions of angels’ and taking the easy way out,  He opted to do what no one had ever done before… or since.  Jesus went on to be scourged at the pillar, and then…Crucified on the Cross… the ‘ultimate act of humility.’  Why… such an act of humility?  He did this, to show us how much He loved us… that He would give His own Life…so that we might have “eternal life.”
