“…If it ain’t fun…then….it ain’t worth the trouble….”

NO FUN – NO SHOW….a new TV show starring Florence Henderson of The Brady Bunch fame.  This has been her motto throughout her show business career; seemingly with good results.  For myself….well, it’s not been my motto, but it’s surely something that I strive for.  If it ain’t fun…then….it ain’t worth the trouble.  I remember back 55 years ago, while beginning my college career, and not liking accounting courses; but accounting was the only job I could find, so I taught myself to enjoy it.  It became a challenge for me to tackle a problem and solve it.  Numbers, for many years, has been my passion.  I love anything to do with numbers.  I’ve carried a calculator with me for, at least, 25 years.  I have one within arms-length, where ever I go.  Over the years, if I didn’t enjoy what I was doing…I didn’t even start the project, rather, I looked for one that I did enjoy.  If I had the authority, I’d assign the project to someone else.  Of course…I’ve HAD to do some projects that I disliked, but that falls in the order of discipline and need.  When we enjoy our assignments; we do a better job.  Our business leaders should assign projects to those individuals that they know would enjoy certain things, and would know, therefore, that they would do a superior job.  More personally, if we marry the “joy of our heart,” then we’ll have a much more successful marriage.  Joy is like lining up all the stars…for success in business, family, and our spiritual life.  God gave us the “gift of joy (enjoyment), so that we would be happy.  God likes happy campers.  Psalm 16:11You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.  Matthew 13:44Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”  Blessings…cjlb…3/20/14
