What does “saying nothing,” or, remaining silent, mean? Well, to me, it would usually imply CONCENT, or agreement. Yes, there are exceptions. For an example: if a group of “thugs,” discuss robbing a bank, and “you” remain silent, yet go on the robbery…then you have implied CONCENT, and if apprehended, you’ll likely be found guilty. If you remained silent, and did not participate in the deed, then you’ve implied DISAGREEMENT.
But, what if it were a County vote for a penny tax increase. If you didn’t vote, then you’ve implied AGREEMENT. You have to “speak-up,” to VOICE you disagreement. If the majority wins, which is usually the case, then you’ve agreed to follow the majority. In the case of a “project” at your work place; and you disagree, then you SHOULD voice your DISAGREEMENT; and if the majority wins, and you feels strong enough about it, then you should ask to be reassigned, or even RESIGN, in or to carry out you “full disagreement.” Even in MARRIAGE, it requires both parties to say…. “I do.”
So, the point of all of this…is: It’s seldom WISE to remain silent. As my Dear Brother, always said…. “If it’s worth agreeing to, then it’s worth writing down, and signing.” Each time that I’ve violated that “good advice,” it came back to haunt me. The days of a “hand-shake,” are OVER.
There is “one place,” however that you can “bank on” it…. without having it in an AGREEMENT, and without saying a word. That is; whatever is written in the BIBLE, you can “bank on it.” The Bible is the word of God and is powerful and life changing. God doesn’t require an answer; but He does require your ACTION. The promises of God start with 2 Timothy 3:16, where we are told: All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness. With this promise of God in hand we are assured that what we learn in the Bible comes directly from God.
And Romans 8:37-39 says: No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Also, in Proverbs 1:33 – But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.” John 14:27 – “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. …Blessings…cjlb…3/18/15.
