James 1:22-27 – Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it – not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it – they will be blessed in what they do.
Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
If I’ve kept your attention up to this point, then, let me simply conclude by stating this: The Bible is a “textbook” on how to live our lives in a Christian manner… how to live by the Golden Rule, and how to have “life-everlasting” with Our Lord Jesus Christ. The instructions are there to use, lose, or abuse. But unless, and until, we focus on those instructions found therein, with a strong commitment to follow them, then we are “fooling ourselves,” and wasting your time.
If we have trouble following these instructions, then the “only remaining answer” is PRAYER. Turn to prayer. Ask again… and again, and over again… NEVER give up on God. He loves us, and loves to hear from us. We are assured of this in…
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 8:37-39 – No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 2:4-5 – But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved.
