IDLENESS: Stewards of Providence recognize time is a precious gift from God. St. Jose Marie Escriva put it this way: “Brief indeed is our time for loving, for giving, for making atonement. It would be very wrong, therefore, for us to waste it, or to cast this treasure irresponsibly overboard. We mustn’t squander this period of the world’s history (our own personal time on earth) which God has entrusted to each one of us.”
I Proverbs 16-27-29 – Idle hands are the devil’s workshop; idle lips are his mouthpiece. An evil man sows strife; gossip separates the best of friends. Wickedness loves company—and leads others into sin.
Here’s the facts… if one is inclined to sit-back and to disengage themselves from the day-to-day affairs of life, career, family life… and our spiritual responsibilities… then they are abandoning their responsibilities to all those involved… which is the height of IDLENESS.
But worse… those who are inclined to IDLENESS… are also… abandoning God. We are told clearly… love thou neighbor, take care of Mom and Dad, raise our children, feed the poor, clothe the naked, support our leaders (this includes participating in the election process), obey the Ten Commandments, and atone for our sins. None of this is subject to negotiation. When we neglect our responsibilities… then we are flirting with the devil and giving satan the ‘foot-hold’ he needs to put us back in partnership with ‘original sin.’
Seriously… Who wants to get in bed with satan?
1 TIMOTHY 5:13 – Besides that, they learn to be idlers, going about from house to house, and not only idlers, but also gossips and busybodies, saying what they should not.
…Blessings to all… as we seek work hard to accept our responsibilities….cjlb…10/14/2017
